Bumrungad International Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand

Bumrungrad International is an internationally accredited, multi-specialty hospital located in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Founded in 1980, today it is the largest private hospital in Southeast Asia, with 554 beds and over 30 specialty centers. Bumrungrad offers state-or-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and intensive care facilities in a one-stop medical center.

          Bumrungrad serves over a million patients annually. Over 400,000 are internationals. They include thousands of expatriates who live in Bangkok and nearby countries, plus visitors from 190 countries around the world who come here for treatment. English is widely spoken. The hospital has a medical coordination office staffed by doctors, nurses, and interpreters who serve the special needs of international patients.

          Bumrungrad is a  public copany traded on the Thai stock exchange. It has been featured by CBS's 60 Minutes, NBC’s Today Show, Time, Newsweek, and other international press as a leader in medical tourism.
          Patients are served by over 700+ nurses and 945 doctors, covering 55 sub-specialties. The Red Cross gives Bumrungrad its top classification of "A" defined as "a tertiary care center which should be able to provide quality care in all medical specialties including invasive cardiology, cardiac and neurosurgery." 

Achievements


  • Bumrungrad was the first Asian hospital accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) ,the international arm of the organization that reviews and accredits American hospitals.  Bumrungrad was first accredited in 2002, re-accredited in 2005, 2008 and 2011
  • In November, 2009, Bumrungrad received recertification for treating strokes and heart attacks from The Joint Commission International (JCI) - the leading international evaluator of hospital quality. The distinctions certify that the hospital's programs meet international standards and follow the latest US clinical guidelines.
  • Thailand also has its own Hospital Accreditation program conducted by the. Instituta of Hospital Quality Improvement & Accreditation Bumrungrad was the first hospital in the country to be accredited by this program in 1999 and was reaccredited in triennial reviews in 2002 and 2005. The Thai accreditation process is demanding: Bumrungrad is one of only 14 private hospitals in Bangkok (out of over 100) to earn it.
